A BRIGHT LED DAY, NICE TESTS DONE, RESULTS:
On October 12, 2023, TRANSPA (spearheaded by François Roger) and the CST image department organized a Bright Leds Day.
Images were shot with 12 LED projectors, they were measured and compared.
In short, beautiful tests of an unprecedented scale were carried out. Philippe Ros, AFC, cinematographer and co-chair of the IMAGO technical committee, played the conductor brilliantly.
And as it was not enough, in February, Eric Chérioux and Jean Michel Martin of the CST with the valuable assistance of Gilles Arnaud (DOP /CST) carried out metrological measurements of these same lighting fixtures.
We collected a huge amount of images and data. Eric and Philippe had to sort, classify and analyze everything.
You will find the fruits of all this work in PDF and video clips. If you’re an image and light enthusiast, these tests are for you, we hope that you will be able to get the gist of what you need.

LIGHTING FIXTURE & INTERVIEWS
ARRI SKYPANEL X (DOME & HYPER)
Introduced as a modular system and configurable into different sizes (X21, X22, X23), SkyPanel X offers native soft and hard light technology, setting a new bar not only in terms of dimming and color science, but also in light output and beam quality for medium to long throws. With up to 4,800 lux at 10 m / 32.8 ft and eight pixels per panel; dynamic CCT range of 1,500 K – 20,000 K; RGBACL full-spectrum color engine; wireless CRMX control; integrated power supply; advanced networking possibilities; and an IP66 rating, the SkyPanel X is an all-weather lighting solution tailored to existing workflows. It is available in two housing colors: iconic blue/silver and all-black.
NANLUX EVOKE 900 CRGBLAC
The Nanlux Evoke 900C is a compact, powerful spotlight with an impressive color temperature range and a 60° beam. Its variable CCT from 1800 to 20,000 K lets you use it indoors, outdoors and in mixed lighting environments. It is dimmable from 0 to 100% in increments of just 0.1%. In addition to incorporating amber, lime and cyan LEDs, the fixture offers high CRI/TLCI of 95 as a guarantee of accurate color rendering. What’s more, RGBLAC color mixing technology gives the Evoke 900C a much fuller spectrum of light than other RGBWW LED projectors. Numerous color selection modes are available to enable you to reproduce exactly the hue you want: CCT mode, advanced HSI mode, RGBW mode, XY coordinate mode and Gel mode.
KINOFLO FREESTYLE 21
A more compact, lighter LED panel offering greater installation versatility. The LED panel is also equipped with a back plate for stand mounting. The KinoFlo Freestyle includes three operating modes, a white mode and two color modes. Kino Flo’s Freestyle is also equipped with standard and wireless DMX (Lumen Radio®), a 24 VDC input and a universal voltage input from 100 to 240 VAC (0.7 A at 240V).
DEDOLIGHT DLED7 NEO C
Dedolight’s Turbo DLED7 series daylight-focusing LED light head is a focusable LED light with a standard 16mm 5/8″ spigot. This two-tone spotlight features an adjustable color temperature from 2,700K to 6,500 K to provide a quality light that can be used in a wide range of situations.
Being an LED spotlight, it has a low power consumption of just 40W with an output of 38,000 lux at a distance of 1m with a spot beam angle. The head features active cooling, meaning it doesn’t need noisy fans to operate. It’s also lightweight for efficient use as a camera light. This small, compact lighting head, featuring a double-helix focusing mechanism, offers enhanced light output. The fixture functions as a highly focusable and tunable backlight or accent light, and is ideal for delicate and versatile background projection. When these background projections are slightly out of focus, you can easily create the illusion of a three-dimensional world.
DEDOLIGHT DLED9 BI NEO+
The two-tone Dedolight DLED9-BI fresnel-type LED spotlight offers excellent color rendering in both daylight and tungsten modes. It can be controlled remotely with the DMX-compatible power supply, and can be powered from the mains or via a 12 V V-Mount battery with a special ballast. Illumination up to 43,000 lux at 1 m.
